Artsakh Project Briefing

Learn about Mother Armenia’s Artsakh projects and how we plan to help the Artsakh crisis

Key Points

  • 🚩 Azerbaijan’s illegal invasion of Artsakh on September 2023 displaced over 120,000 ethnic Armenians from Artsakh.

  • 👕 These displaced Armenians will need food, clothes, and other humanitarian goods.

  • 🪖 Additionally, our injured soldiers coming back from the battlefields are in need of physical and mental medical support.

  • 📈 Mother Armenia launched 2 new projects in response to recent conflicts:

Mother Armenia’s Analysis of Artsakh

After shelling of civilian infrastructure and minimal international attention, the Republic of Artsakh had its defense forces disarmed and its right to exist taken from it violently just this past week. Consequently, the aggression by Azerbaijan displaced over 120,000 ethnic Armenians from Artsakh, who are making their way back to Armenia proper as this post is written.

Although the situation is heartbreaking, these 120,000 Armenians will need humanitarian aid as they enter into Armenia Proper. Many of these Armenians/Artsakhtsis will need humanitarian goods like food, clothing, shoes, and blankets, especially as the freezing winter season approaches in the coming months.

Additionally, many of our soldiers wounded in various conflicts since 2020 have yet to receive proper physical and medical attention.

Project 1: Food and Clothes for Artsakh Refugees

Because of the urgent nature of the invasion, we’re still planning exactly how to help families as they arrive in Armenia proper from Artsakh. However, below are two lists: one that describes how we plan to help refugee families as they arrive from Artsakh, and a second list of things we won’t do as we begin to execute the project.

How we plan to help

  • Purchase clothing, blankets, and shoes.

  • Provide non-perishable goods if needed, like canned food and water.

  • Partner with other non-profit (NGOs) in Armenia to assist in providing to refugee families.

Things we will NOT do

  • Give money directly to refugee families.

  • Give money to anyone (individuals or organizations alike) to purchase goods on our behalf.

  • Support any government effort in any regard, especially in relation to events in Artsakh.

If you know anyone in Armenia who could be of aid to this project, please let us know by contacting us via email: [email protected]

Project 2: Injured Veterans Fund (passthrough to AWHF)

Note: this is a passthrough project, meaning we will pass 100% of donations to the Armenian Wounded Heroes Fund. We chose to do this because we believe that AWHF can have a much larger impact per dollar donated than we can have on our soldiers if we carry the project out ourselves.

Things we will NOT do

  • Give money directly to any individual or family.

  • Support any government effort in any regard, especially in relation to events in Artsakh.

This project has one goal: To bring necessary aid to injured war veterans and families impacted.

If Mother Armenia helps cover medical expenses for even just 100 injured war veterans, this mission will anbe considered a success.
