MedPoint Kick-Off | Further Advancement of Laptops for Students | 501c3 Update

With some recently raised funds, Mother Armenia is now ready to get the ball rolling on two major projects!

✅ Over $3,000 raised through Glendale Community College’s Scholars Program.

GCC (Glendale Community College) Scholars Program is an academic honors society and prestigious academic group at GCC designed to bring a fulfilling and valuable college experience to its students. Frequently, GCC Scholars will hold charitable community events (for example, a trash-pick-up beautification event for their local Verdugo Park in 2022).

Just over a week ago, GCC Scholars kindly held a fundraising event for Mother Armenia, allowing students to donate to earn credit in the Scholars Program.

Thankfully, Mother Armenia received over $3,000 in student contributions from GCC Scholars. Importantly, these funds will allow us to start our upcoming MedPoint clinic renovation project, which will see a medical clinic go through critical fixes in Vahagnadzor.

💻 Even More Laptops for Students On the Way

With Mother Armenia’s recurring donations in recent months, Mother Armenia is now able to successfully fulfill and fund another upcoming laptop delivery to students from impoverished areas. We are able to deliver another four laptops to another school as of today.

We will be working with the same laptop provider as last time, Ideatec.am. Mother Armenia, along with our sister organizations have worked with this provider in the past and have seen nothing but successful results and are highly satisfied, and therefore will use them again.

After going through an application process and reviewing several candidate schools, we selected Yervand Otsian School, an elementary school on the outskirts of Vagharshapat. Yervand Otsian has an administration very welcoming to new tech, and, critically, has zero laptops for students to use.

Being the very first project Mother Armenia has ever launched and executed, Laptops for Students is one of the many projects that have had substantial impact on education, and we plan to expand this project further. 💻 Tech Updates and Goals for 2024

Updates (for technical readers)

Not too much on this front — We will be shifting more towards a Stripe-centered storage paradigm. Essentially, our goal is to keep your non-critical data like invoices, receipts, and transaction history on Stripe itself, rather than making a copy in our production database.

Software Goals for 2024

• Published, real-time finances: In the name of transparency, Mother Armenia wants to add a new “Finances” tab that shows our finances in real-time. We want our donors to see where all of our pennies are going in real time, and see other key statistics like MRR (monthly recurring revenue), Churn, etc.

• Referral system: In a larger goal of Mother Armenia, we’re hoping to see a referral system in which existing donors of Mother Armenia can earn “donation credit” that they can use to fund projects of their choice if another donor is brought on through one of their links.
